Estate landscaping in Greenwich, Connecticut

Eleanor Whitcombe founded Wren Hollow Gardens in 1987 and still runs it with her son James. Our crew designs gardens for large properties, plants specimen trees and hedges, builds dry-stone walls, rockeries and koi ponds, and keeps the same Greenwich grounds through every season.

Designed, planted and kept by the same hands

A commission begins with a walk around your property with Eleanor or James. We look at the soil, the light and how you use the land, then write the planting plan before anyone lifts a spade.

Garden design

Planting plans, perennial borders and seasonal containers, chosen for your soil and the way the light crosses the property.

Trees & hedges

Specimen trees sited by our certified arborist, and hedges clipped to a line that holds through the season.

Stone & water

Dry-stone walls, rockeries, flagstone terraces and koi ponds, built and planted by the same crew that tends them.

Some of our work

We planted both of these gardens and still look after them. Wren Hollow takes on a handful of estates each year, so the same crew returns to the same beds season after season, and the borders improve rather than tire.
